Snickerdoodle Cookies
Prep Time: 10 minutes + overnight
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Ellie's specialty, we get these once a year along with her delicious Oatmeal Wafers
Ingredients
1/4 CUP Butter - softened
1/4 CUP Shortnening
3/4 CUP Sugar
1ea large egg
1.25 CUP + 2 Tablespoons All-Purpose flour
1 Teaspoon Cream of Tartar
1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda
1/8 Teaspoon salt
2 Tablespoons Sugar
2 Teaspoons Cinnamon
Mix thoroughly the butter, shortening, [3/4 cup] sugar and egg
Blend in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt
Chill the mix overnight
[Next Day]
Pre-heat oven to 400F
Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls of uniform size
Mix the 2 Tablespoons of sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Roll the dough balls in sugar/amon mix thoroughly. place the dough balls 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking or ckkie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes. Remove immediately from the baking sheet.
Makes 3 dozen cookies.
